So Alike!

So Bryce will probably be mad that I am posting about this but he participated in Art On The Green this weekend. He did great, got 2nd place for 2-D Semi-Pro and won $300. He had 24 hours to paint a picture. He started at 2 p.m. on Friday and finished this afternoon by about 1:30 p.m. He actually started a picture on Friday and came home at 2:30 a.m. and told me he was starting over when he went back in the morning. So he actually completed the entire painting in about 4 hours ... he also sold it too! Hooray! He did awesome!

So starting a few days before Pax started worrying that his Dad wouldn't win. He is SO like Bryce ... they both find things to worry about that I would never have thought of. Between the two of them there is never anything for me to worry about because they've already worried or are worrying about it.
Anyway, Pax also LOVES to draw and paint and is very good at it. He notices the little details and like his dad is critical of his own work ... he gets frustrated when he can't get it to look just right. He watched Bryce drawing out his painting before he started so he would know where to paint. Pax has had his paints out all weekend. He is now drawing out a picture and then painting it.
Today we went down to the events and had tons of fun. They have drawing and sculpting activities for the kids. The River Festival is the same time and also at the Island so we watched the dog competition (fetching in the water), petted the horse and donkey and played at the spray park. We checked on Bryce 3 times and when we got home Pax pulled out his paints and drew a fish. Pretty good replica for a 5 year old. He remembered the trees, the colors in the fish, how it was laid out, etc. I love it!

My Boys

Bryce is such a good dad and the boys LOVE hanging out with him. He does all kinds of fun stuff with them ... they take the 4-wheeler out, they help him work on projects around the house and on this night they were listening to Bryce's ipod. Pax was feeling sick a few weeks ago (as you can tell from the flushed cheeks) and Bryce just hung out with him on his bed and they listened to songs. Nice to see a smile on a sick Paxton's face.

Tonight for FHE we were making Valentine's for someone we love. Pax's preschool sent home a note saying they should practice holding their pencil properly and writing names with capital and lowercase letters. So today Pax wrote 20 Valentines all by himself but wouldn't use the lowercase letters. I would write out the name and he would change it to all capital letters. So I was telling Bryce this and he helped Pax write out "Happy Valentine's Day" with capital and lowercase letter while holding the pen correctly. He is such a good teacher and Dad!
