Where Did May Go?

So I should just expect it ... kind of did but May flew right by. We really had an eventful month so I am backdating my posts just to remember when they happened but they are really all being added today. May is always busy with Paxton's birthday, our Anniversary (8 years!) and Mother's Day. But this year we added Zoe teething, Tyler's asthma and building a home. Crazy!

Preschool Graduation

I can't believe preschool is over ... Pax graduated and wasn't too happy about it for several reasons ...

1) He didn't want to wear the funny looking hats (can't blame him!)

2) He will miss seeing his friends 3 days a week.

3) He is nervous about starting kindergarten. I know that adjustment would be much easier if his friends were going to the same school but I also know that he makes friends really easily and will be fine. He is ready to move on.

They were supposed to go to the park on the last day of school but ended up having to stay inside since it was raining and cold. Looks to me like they had plenty of fun!

9 Months

Our little Zoe also decided to get teeth over Paxton's birthday weekend. Wow! That was a crazy weekend. Anyway, she got her two bottom teeth that weekend. Her top right tooth came in later that week and now she is getting her other top tooth and I think another one on the bottom. Guess that's what happens when you wait to get your first tooth until you are nearly 9 months old.

Zoe is so much fun these days. She turned 9 months on the 10th and is still not officially crawling. She is on the move but just reaches really far and then scoots her bum. She is never where I leave her now. She is fast at moving around when I am not in the room but if I'm there then she screams or just comes over to me so that she can get where she wants to go quicker. She has lots to say and mostly likes to feed herself. She has turned into a mama's girl and cries when anyone else holds her and she can still see me. She definitely loves her big brothers. When they are gone she seems so bored and goes crazy when she sees them again. What a fun way to be greeted after being gone ... even if only for a few minutes!

She is 28 inches long (75%) and 16 pounds 14 ounces (10%). I always wonder if they are measuring right. She doesn't seem taller than average. In fact, she just looks really petite. I would think it would be the other way around because her bum and thighs are nearly as big as Ty's. We compared in the bath the other day!

Circus Time

Pax had a circus at preschool and it was so much fun. Parents, sibling, anyone really was invited. We had to pay to get in and for our lemonade and popcorn. The kids in the class split the money they earned and were paid on the next day of class. Pax earned $3.25.


Our tiger did a great job. He said later that he got burned jumping through the ring of fire. He didn't want to roar but we loved watching him. He was so nervous that morning before school that he said his belly hurt.

These are some of Pax's best buddies ... we'll sure miss seeing these guys all the time. They will all be going to the same school and we're on the other side of town. Good thing we've got all summer to play!

Asthma Attack

The night of Paxton's birthday Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Julie were over watching Herbie with Paxton and Ty just started sounding terrible. He gets croupe at the end of nearly every cold but didn't sound croupie. He just sounded like he couldn't breathe. A few weeks before he woke up in the night and had sounded the same way. He was up for an hour and a half before he could go back to sleep. When I had gone back to bed I had told Bryce I think he might have asthma. He sounded like he couldn't breathe. So on Pax's birthday night we were thinking Ty sounded horrible and we tried steaming him with the shower and taking him outside like we do with croupe and it didn't help. So Bryce decided to take him to the Emergency Room. They left at 8:30 p.m. and returned 4 hours later! Ty and Bryce were worn out and most frustrating was that Tyreally didn't sound any better.

So I took him to his doctor the next morning because he still sounded terrible. Dr. Smith told me that if Ty got any worse he would admit him to the hospital because he was laboring to breathe. And so the breathing treatments began. For a week we had to do breathing treatments every 4 hours and in the morning and night also do an extra medicine with his nebulizer which meant it took 30 minutes to finish his breathing treatment. Plus he had an oral steroid to take. Luckily he is my medicine lover and did well. By the end of the week he was sick of sitting for his breathing treatments but we survived ... mainly because I think he could feel the difference.

He is doing well now and hasn't had to do any breathing treatments for a few days. Hopefully he'll be alright now but if he does have another asthma attack we'll be prepared. His doctor says he'll most likely out grow it since he had his first attack at 2 so maybe by 5 to 7 years old he'll quit having asthma. That's 3-5 years away but I hope he doesn't have it his whole life.

Pax's Bowling Party

Overall the bowling party went well ... note to self, next year don't invite so many kids! We invited 20 kids ... some were cousins, most were school friends. It was wild and crazy for a minute as we got started bowling but it turned out well. Pax had tons of fun and so did all the kids. We bowled, ate pizza and cake ... everything a 5 year old could want.

Pax is so big and some days I forget just how grown up he is. Things he can do at 5:

*read and write - he is very good at sounding out words and has started sounding them out himself to write stories on his pictures. He finds it very frustrating that there are exceptions to the rules ... it is frustrating! He does a great job though and is SO ready for kindergarten.

*pax has made a lot of friends at school this year. Luckily I know most of their moms and so he can play with them outside of school. However, they all live on the other side of town and won't be going to kindergarten with him. He's good at making friends though and I know he'll be fine.

*my helper - for the most part he enjoys helping. He will take Tyler potty when I am busy helping Zoe, he adores his little sister and will entertain her when I'm making dinner or helping Tyler, he loves to help me make dinner by adding ingredients, cutting up veggies, and setting the table.

*emptying the garbages is the one thing I can always count on making him mad but he does it anyway. He doesn't like doing them since he thinks they stink. All he has to do is empty his, Ty's and their bathroom garbages into the big kitchen garbage. He is complaining less now that Ty is potty trained so they aren't quite as full or smelly.

*our jokester - he still loves to tell knock knock jokes, quote movies (which amazes me since he remembers lines from movies after only seeing it once) and loves to scary people ... especially Ty which isn't always funny since now Ty is afraid of monsters in the basement. Oh well, what are big brothers for?

Happy 5th Birthday Paxton!

So now I really can't believe my little boy is 5 already. He is so big now ... ready for Kindergarten, making friends of his own, learning what he does and doesn't like to do. He is such a joy and a wonderful big brother. Ty and Zoe are lucky to have Pax to watch out for them.

His birthday started Saturday morning when he ran into our room at 6:30 a.m. to tell us it was his birthday and was devastated and wouldn't believe us when we told him it was only Saturday and his birthday was tomorrow. So we let him open a gift ... The Waterhorse. He was slightly disappointed since he was hoping to open a toy but we didn't buy him any toys since we knew he'd get lots of toys at his friend birthday party.

Sunday we again woke up to Paxton climbing in bed with us at 6:30 a.m. This time he was right and Bryce took him to the living room to watch t.v. until everyone else woke up. He let me sleep in since I had a cold and Zoe had been getting her first teeth all weekend and was staying up extra late.
We surprised Paxton with a tramp. It is way too huge for our backyard but at least we are moving and then we'll have more room for it. Paxton was totally surprised and thank you to Grandpa, Uncle Travis and Uncle Jamie for helping us put it together Saturday night. Bryce and I couldn't have done it on our own.

I climbed in the tramp to get pictures of his reaction. Definitely worth it!
